Covid concerns cause postponement of big Rotherham Titans fixture

TOMORROW'S South Yorkshire derby between Rotherham Titans and Sheffield Tigers has been called off due to Covid worries in the opposition camp.

Titans had sold out all hospitality spaces and were expecting a crowd upwards of 700 for the first ever league meeting between the teams.

In a short statement announcing the postponement, the club called it a "big blow," having also bought in food and drink for the fixture.

With all free Saturdays taken up between now and the end of the season, it is likely the match will have to be rescheduled for next May.

Titans, who have won their last ten matches, could have gone to the top of National Two North with a victory and must now wait until January 8 for their next fixture, Covid permitting.

The club will still be open from noon and will have a brass band and a disco.
