Coach's praise as Titans get off mark

ROTHERHAM Titans got off the win mark in National One as they overcame Rosslyn Park 29-12 - and coach Joe Barker says it was down to sticking to their pre-game plan.

After two successive defeats, Rotherham needed a victory and had to come from behind against the Londoners before a Henry Roberts try was followed by eight penalties from Alex Dolly in a flawless personal display.

But Barker has given the whole squad a pat on the back as they now prepare for this Saturday's clash at Birmingham Moseley.

“In our first two games we were in those games for a period of time, but we made mistakes and went away from what we wanted to do," said Barker.

"But the lads really stuck with it against Rosslyn. We asked them to play a certain plan and they stuck to it for the full 80 minutes and that’s why we were relentless and ruthless with our approach all game long."

Park had gone in front after only two minutes thanks to a Hugo Elllis try before Roberts notched Titans' only score.

Dolly kept the scoreboard ticking, five of his kicks coming in the final 20 minutes as the hosts forced the visitors into mistakes while a second Rosslyn try after the break proved academic.
