BREAKING: Swedish defender Ekstrand joins Millers

The 27-year-old is a free agent after leaving this weekend's opponents, Bristol City, and has joined on a deal until the end of the season.

He played on the continent with Helsingborgs and Udinese before moving to England, making more than 80 league appearances with Watford, also featuring in their side which won promotion to the Premier League a couple of years ago. He has turned out twice for Bristol City this term, the first as a sub in a 2-2 draw at the AESSEAL New York Stadium in September.

Millers chief Paul Warne said: "Joel is experienced and he can play in a three or a four at the back.

"Although he hasn't played a lot this season, he can play at the level and with Kirk Broadfoot's injury we're a bit weak in that position even though we have brought in Semi Ajayi.

"We've done a deal until the end of the season and we can have another look then."
