Bowled over by charity match fundraising haul

ROTHERHAM United’s cricket match against Wickersley Old Village netted more than £8,200 for charity.

The annual match in aid of Rotherham Hospice — championed by Millers legend John Breckin — was won by Wickersley in the final over on June 24.

Funds continue to be tallied but passed the £8,200 mark this week (4).

And Breck said: “At the end of the day, it’s for the hospice. Hopefully you don’t need it, but if you do need it, it’s there for you.

“It belongs to us people of Rotherham and we must keep it going.”
