Bid to breathe new life into Kimberworth BMX track

EFFORTS are being made to get a once popular BMX facility up and running again.

The track at Kimberworth attracted good numbers to the now Olympic sport and was the practice ground for many talented riders after it was opened in 2001.

Carole Foster, one of the driving forces behind the project, moved out of the area and the new group who took over were unable to sustain the running of it.

However Carole is now back on board and looking to apply for funding to get it re-instated and is carrying out a consultation with local residents.

She said: “It will now be more successful because I've moved back in to the area and 30 of the old riders that attended as teens and raced for the club are now happy to support it for themselves and for the younger generation.

“Two of them are now teachers and are looking to take their cycling coaching qualifications.”

Carole is asking interested parties to complete a questionnaire at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/3HVVSD3
