Bester relishes Newcastle test

It will be Bester’s last chance to assess his squad before next week’s opener at Bristol and the ultra-confident coach will expect his side to push the top-flight Falcons all the way.

“It is an important game for us because obviously it’s our last one before we go to Bristol,” he said.

“We’re playing a side like Newcastle on their own ground because I want to know exactly what our capabilities are and we will go there expecting to win. The squad is shaping up very well.”

Bester used last Saturday’s Possible v Probables game at Herringthorpe Stadium to firm up on his selection for tomorrow’s trip.

A Titans second team take on Newcastle’s second team at Northumbria University tomorrow (2pm) before the first teams clash at Kingston Park (5pm).
