Vaulks, who has been Millers skipper for the last three matches, misses out Ewood Park through suspension after picking up his fifth booking of the campaign in the 2-1 home win over Swansea City last Saturday.

Five yellow cards before the end of November trigger a one-game ban and the FA confirmed today that the midfield man is ineligible for the Rovers clash.

The 25-year-old has been a key man for Rotherham this season and has played in every second-tier match so far.

Last term, as the Millers won promotion from League One, he featured in 44 of their 46 league games.

He took the captain's armband when centre-half Richard dropped to the bench last month following a 1-1 home draw with Bolton Wanderers.
