Archery club invites beginners to take aim

FAMILES and people of all ages have the chance to try the fun and inclusive sport of archery this week.

Dearne Valley Archery Club are inviting all-comers, including people who have never picked up a bow and arrow before, to an open day on Saturday.

The event is part of Archery GB's Big Weekend, which will see around 100 clubs across the country open their doors to potential archers. With around 6,000 members of the public set to take part and around 35,000 arrows to be shot in total, it is going to be a massive UK wide event.

Visitors of all abilities are welcome to the Dearne Valley club's event at Hickleton Juniors football ground on Hickleton Road, Doncaster, DN5 7AZ, starting at midday.

There will be plenty of current club members to lend a hand and chat about the social side of archery. All equipment is provided. Refreshments will be available and there will be a small cost to cover the cost of targets.

Dearne Valley Archery Club has been running since 1957 and has around 60 members of all ages who take part in archery on a weekly basis.
