Another managerial change at Maltby Main as Parkgate pair replace Russ Eagle

MALTBY Main have parted company with first team boss Russ Eagle and brought in joint managers Andy Dawson and Lee Whitehead from Parkgate in his place.

Eagle only returned to his hometown club at the end of last season, 20 years after making his debut in management there.

Dawson and Whitehead will form the fourth different managerial set-up at NCEL Premier Division club Maltby this year.

Louis Axcell was dismissed in January after two years in charge.

His replacement, John Stancliffe, resigned after the Sheffield Senior Cup final defeat to Worksop Town at the end of April, paving the way for Eagle's arrival.

Dawson and Whitehead have had four years at Parkgate, finishing eighth in Division One in the last two completed seasons. The Steelmen also made a late challenge for the play-offs last term.

Earlier this month Gate pushed the full-time professionals of Rotherham United close before losing 4-2.

Parkgate said in a statement: "The club would like to thank (Andy and Lee) for their services on and off the pitch, true gentlemen of the non-league game.

"The Steelmen’s committee and board will look to appoint a permanent replacement before the NCEL season kicks off on Saturday 30th July."

Two other of Parkgate's coaching staff, Chris Wood and George Wilson, have also departed.
