VIDEO: Ginetta make nine-year-old's driving dreams come true

YORKSHIRE race car specialists Ginetta made the dreams of a nine-year-old cancer sufferer come true by making him a racing driver for the day.

The one-time Le Mans winning race team joined forces with the Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity to give young Jack Broderick the ride of his life on the open expanses of a runway at Leeds East Airport.

Jack, who has lived with Rhabdomyosarcoma since his diagnosis at the age of six, began his big day by heading to Ginetta’s base at Garforth, Leeds, in a Lamborghini Aventador supercar.

Upon arrival to the airfield want-to-be racing driver Jack was presented with his very own Ginetta racing suit, before enjoying a passenger ride around the track.

Jack then fulfilled his dream by taking the wheel himself and speeding around the airfield under the supervision of professional driver Mike Simpson.

To top off his day Jack was got a peek at one of Ginetta's race cars being prepared for a race in New York and enjoyed a tour of the factory.

His mum Vicki said: "It was an absolutely brilliant day and more than we could have ever imagined.

“He was so surprised when the Lamborghini turned up at the hotel and even more surprised when he found out he would drive the racing car.

“It was so nice to see the smile on his face as he enjoyed spending time with the racing team and the cars.

“Rays of Sunshine and Ginetta Cars really pulled out all the stops to make Jack feel special, and it was certainly a day the entire family will never forget."

Jamie Robinson, Sales Director at Ginetta Cars, said: "Jack made a brilliant racing driver and it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of his special day."
