But he's admitted that a week off hasn't brought the expected raft of players returning from injury.

He said: “It’s been disapponting that we haven’t got many lads back from injury.

“But we are grateful for the directors in supporting us by freeing up some money and allowing us to bring in two new lads this week in Jonny Sykes and Caolan Ryan..

“They will bring energy and obviously more numbers and it is a win, win with younger players. If they put their minds to it and you give them the right tools, they should improve and that’s a process we’re going through now here at Rotherham."

Sykes is from Leeds Beckett University, having also played at Loughborough, while Ryan is a former Worcester Academy man who latterly played at Moseley.
