Turnstile numbers increased

SIX new turnstiles have been driven through the side of the New York Stadium as club officials look to get fans into the ground more smoothly at “high capacity games.”

The Millers smashed their estimated average match attendance of around 6,500 by almost 1,500 fans last term — recording a season-on-season increase of 127 per cent — and are expecting another hike in match day numbers following their promotion to League One.

But many fans have encountered issues with the 12,000 capacity stadium’s automated turnstiles, with officials from security providers G4S being called upon to man the gates at many games.

Rotherham United’s Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas, hopes that raising the number of turnstiles from 19 to 25 will iron out these problems and pave the way to a smoother match day operation.
