Titans sign Albion starlet

TITANS have snapped up fast-rising Irish lock Robin Copeland from Plymouth Albion—after the 23-year-old made a whirlwind start to his pro career.

Copeland arrived at the Devon club as a fourth choice second row but after making his debut in Albion’s fourth game of the season never looked back. He went on to make 19 starts, scoring five tries, as an established first choice.

But Rotherham have moved in to sign the former St Mary’s College player and coach Andre Bester is delighted.

“He’s a very highly-rated player and he will be a big signing for us,” said Bester.

“The lad did very well at Plymouth last year and he likes what we are trying to achieve here at Rotherham.”

Titans have also drafted in 21-year-old Bath hooker Ted Stagg, a player in a similar mould to Dan Baines, and are looking at three trial players ahead of the start of pre-season training on July 11.
