Titans grab a festive bonus

TITANS coach Alex Codling said he was "happy but not elated" by Rotherham's Boxing Day performance at Championship powerhouses Bedford, despite a 22-16 defeat.

Titans pushed the top four challengers all the way at Goldington Road, going down to 14 second period points after they had led 9-6 at the break.

Bedford hit back in the second and a try from wing James Stephenson looked to have put the matter beyond doubt before Peter Homan's sprint over the line with two minutes left gave his side a deserved losing bonus point.

Said Codling: "We made some mistakes, especially in the first half, and there are things we have to address in training.

"But overally we took a very strong team to the wire and we have to be happy with that."

Titans' next game is at home to Nottingham on January 5.
