Test of character, says Warnock

NEIL Warnock says tomorrow's finale at Hull City will tell him a lot about the character of his players and their ability to handle big Championship occasions.

After 15 games in charge, the Millers chief knows he can count on 100 per cent effort and knows they will leave nothing out on the pitch at the KC Stadium.

Warnock admits he thought the Tigers would be champions this season, not be involved in the play-offs. He still expects them to come out firing and as he takes one last look at the team before the retained list is announced, he'll be studying how his players cope.

He told the Advertiser: “They will never let me down in attitude and effort, that's a non-starter. I don't worry about things like that because I know they all want to play for me.

“I want them to show me this weekend that we can play against the best sides and hold our own because Hull have got some quality players. I thought they'd win the league, if I'm honest.

“You see quite a lot of the character of the players when you are playing away from home in an environment like it will be on Saturday, where Hull are desperate to win. It will be a good test for quite a few of them and a good atmosphere.”

Before last week's match against Blackburn, Warnock hinted he may make changes but in the end made none.

The temptation to give a run to players who haven't been figuring is there again and it is likely to be taken.

“I might look at one or two players, I don't know yet,” he said. “There are one or two things I'd like to look at before the end of the season in case I stay so it might be an opportunity to play a couple.”
