Tennis ace takes county title

The 48 year old had won several tournaments in the past few years and entered the Yorkshire Veterans County Championships in the unusual position of not being seeded in the top two.

But he stormed to victory in the competition, held at Chapel Allerton.

After an easy win in his first round match, Dave played the highly fancied no.1 seed, and won a tight encounter 10-7 in a championship tie-break.

He then met the second seed in the final, where he won another tight match 7-5, 7-5, to take the title.
