Stox star guns for world crown

STOCK car star Paul Harrison has admitted that time could be running out on his hopes of taking the World Championship as he heads for tomorrow’s showpiece at Coventry.

Now 41, the Wickersley driver will be making his 22nd appearance in the sport’s big event and has been on the rostrum five times.

He’s still in top form, but Harrison says the pressure is stronger than ever this time around.

“I’ve been racing for 25 years now and although some drives go on until they’re in their 50s, I know that time is against me if I want to win the title,” he said.

“The older you get the more it goes away from you and I think that if I’m going to win it, then this has probably got to be the year.

“The adrenaline builds up just talking about it and I think I am feeling more pressure than ever before. If I don’t win it now then my chances will start slipping away."
