Step it up, says Evans

MANAGER Steve Evans wants Rotherham United to reignite their promotion push with maximum points from two successive matches at the New York Stadium, starting against top-end rivals Exeter City tomorrow.

Two defeats from the last three have nudged the Millers down to seventh place in League Two, five points shy of the automatic promotion frame and two behind this weekend's opponents.

While Rotherham still have a game in hand on most teams above, that is not until April 16 at Bradford and there is still plenty of football to be played before then.

Evans admits that with only eight games to go, the team needs to step it up and good results against Exeter and then AFC Wimbledon next Friday will provide a timely springboard and lift spirits after last week's beating at Cheltenham.

He said: "We were poor at Cheltenham, we put our hands up to that collectively and now we need to collectively get it right on Saturday.

"We want six points from the next six. We know how tough it is to win on the road and we have been relatively successful in it, but we have let ourselves down at times at home and we need to address that now.

"It's results time and you have to win games."

Kari Arnason returns from suspension while long-term injury absentee, goalkeeper Scott Shearer, is pushing for his first start in four months after coming through a full game for the reserves on Tuesday.
