Speedway star spreads the safety word

ONE of Britain’s fastest rising speedway stars called in at special event in Rotherham to meet youngsters and spread the word about bike safety.

Sheffield Tigers ace Jason Garrity was a special guest at a community-building picnic at Dalton Greenspace, led by South Yorkshire Housing Association and the new Friends of Dalton group.

The area has an ongoing problem with young bikers and Jason, along with Tigers co-promoter Julie Reading, took time out to talk to youngsters on the dangers of off-road motorcycling and brought along his own high-powered racing machine.

Said the SYHA’s Engagement Officer James Smith, who organised the successful afternoon: “The day was a huge success with children and adults having fun, enjoying a picnic and chatting to the Sheffield Tigers about bike safety issues.

“South Yorkshire Housing Association is grateful to the Tigers and we look forward to working with them on other projects in the Future."
