Snow cuts into Rotherham's weekend sport

THE heavy snow is set to disrupt this weekend’s local sports programme, with several football fixtures already called off.

Maltby Main’s match at home to Penistone Church tomorrow in the Northern Counties East League was one of the first to be postponed.

Parkgate's fixture away to Nostell Miners Welfare in Division One is another victim of the weather.

Rotherham Hockey Club’s programme at the Hallam University Sports Park on Bawtry Road, due to take place tomorrow, has been postponed along with its President's Day.

Rotherham Titans’ local derby away to Sheffield Tigers in National Two North has also gone.

With freezing temperatures forecast overnight, more rugby and football casualties are expected through to Sunday.
