Silver success for Elise

TEENAGER Elise Morton has received praise from her coach after bringing a silver medal home from a top karate event.

Elise (pictured), from Rotherham Sport Karate, travelled to Glasgow for the British Four Nations, held at the city’s Emirates Arena.

She battled through her first two rounds, winning a place in the final, but only just missed out and settled for a silver medal.

Sensai Paul Royston, her trainer at the club, said: “I am so pleased for Elise as she has worked hard for it.

“She has had a few setbacks over the last two years with injuries but is now fighting fit.

“I can only see her going from strength to strength and this good performance will only help her confidence. Everyone is so proud of her.”

Elise’s father and son, Martin and Brad, also competed.

Martin, who has only been training with Rotherham Sport Karate for a year, fought really well in his category and did the club proud.

Brad fought off tough competition to make it to the quarter finals of a huge category, narrowly missing out on a medal.
