Silver dream for Amelia

TAEKWONDO prospect Amelia Pashley has again proved she can cut it on the international stage.

The 14-year-old from Swinton clinched the silver medal in the Commonwealth Taekwondo Championships in Edinburgh, losing to 6ft tall Andrea Jerome in the final.

It was an eye-catching performance from Amelia, who was part of the England team in a field of no less than 21 countries.

After receiving a bye in the first round, she beat the British champion in her class in the second round before her quest for gold was halted by the towering Jerome from Canada.

Wath Comprehensive School pupil Amelia's next big goal is qualification for the Junior Europeans in 2015 and winning a British junior crown to add to the national cadet title she won last year.

Amelia trains at Ultimate Taekwondo at Doncaster.
