Sheard lands top job

STALWART Stuart Sheard has been named as Chairman of the Yorkshire Rugby League which will kick off its first full season in March.

From Rotherham, former teacher Sheard has a life-long involvement in the sport and has held several positions in both the professional and community game including serving as Vice Chairman of BARLA and Chief Executive at Featherstone Rovers.

He said: “I was delighted to be asked be take on the role.

"The move to the new March to November season is a really exciting development within our sport and I firmly believe that for a brighter future as many levels of our game as possible have to be played at the same time."

The interim Yorkshire season came to a close late last month and the teams will now take a breather before returning to action in March.
