Rotherham Titans' fixture expected to beat the weather

Although the playing surface is heavy, the pitch at Clifton Lane drains well and is expected to be fit to stage tomorrow’s National One fixture against Rams.

Injuries have left the Titans’ pack short of numbers in recent weeks and that has been reflected in results, with Rotherham having collected only three wins from their opening nine games in National One.

But after struggling to a 20-20 draw away to bottom-of-the-table Hull Ionians last weekend, the squad looks in better shape.

Co-coach Anthony Posa said: "We are very hopeful we are going to have Harry Newborn, Will Dennis, Anthony Maka and Jamie Cooke all back with us and for me they are four massive players to be available for selection.

“Will Dennis finally is a specialist tight head in the front row and Newborn and Maka have been our form forwards along with Zak Poole. They've been big losses and Jamie Cooke has been playing really well too. It looks a bit healthier this week, that's for sure."

Reading-based Rams have taken a few teams by surprise since coming up from National Two and arrive fourth in the table.

“Rams are a very good set piece team. We know we have a hell of a challenge but we're up for it," added Posa.

Kick-off is 2pm.
