Ronnie sees positives in defeat

MANAGER Ronnie Moore insisted Rotherham United deserved more from their fruitless trip to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

A Gareth Ainsworth header just before the half-hour mark gave the home side a 1-0 win and helped them open up a five-point lead over the Millers, who stay third in League Two.

They paid the price for a poor first-half performance but Moore reckoned his side deserved at least a share of the spoils for their second-half revival which saw Ryan Taylor have a header pushed onto the bar by home goalkeeper Nikki Bull.

Moore said: “You can’t start the way we did, but give us credit. In the second half we came out and gave it a real go and their keeper made a “worldie” from Ryan Taylor.

“It was second v third. Those types of games are always going to be tight but I thought we gave as good as we got and probably just about shaded cit.”

The match ended on a low note when Jason Taylor was sent off for kicking out at Stuart Beavon in injury time.

His suspension means he will miss tomorrow’s trip to Stevenage, where the Millers will be keen to snap a run of three matches without a win.
