Revived team in player hunt

A NEW football team is set to revive an old tradition from next season.

The Stute FC is the first side to play from Denaby Main Institute, nicknamed the Stute, for at least 40 years and has been accepted into the Mexborough Sunday League for the 2012/13 campaign.

Training has already started and now manager/secretary Vinny Nivens wants new players to get on board. It is intended that home games will be at Denaby Craggs.

Vinny, who will run the side alongside David Rose, said: "I have just retired from Sunday football and I wanted to run a team.

"I have lived around Denaby and Conisbrough for 18 years and it will be good to see the Stute back on the local football map.

"If there are any players out there who want to be part of history, get in touch.

"We're hopefully going to make a good go of it and put the Stute back on the football map."
