Redfearn turns to experience

ROTHERHAM United are turning to experience in their battle to stay in the Championship, with Neil Redfearn saying: “It's time to put the men in.”

The Millers chief is taking a look at four trialists, three of them around or above the age of 30.

Former Ipswich Town midfielder Stephen Hunt and experienced ex-Reading and Republic of Ireland defender Stephen Kelly hooked up with the squad this week, joining one-time Premier League striker Leon Best.

Redfearn is also taking a look at another free agent, 21-year-old midfielder Simon Lenighan,  familiar to him from his time at Leeds.

Yesterday's practice match at a Premier League club offered a chance to take a look at them and another behind-closed-doors game is planned for today.

Redfearn told the Advertiser: “There were four young players in against Ipswich on Saturday and they've done great so far but it is clear that we need to put the men back in.

“We've got to be proactive and freshen things up.”
