Pearce signs for Titans

BIG Laurence Pearce is expected to sign on the dotted line next week to give Rotherham Titans a hefty boost as they prepare to crank up their recruitment drive.

The promising 22-year-old joined last summer from Hull FC and after a long spell out injured, the powerhouse no.8 has been a stand-out player since earning a place in the side.

Talks have been held with Pearce over the last fortnight and now he’s agreed a new deal, taking the number of signings to 20.

Said assistant coach Lee Blackett, one of the men in the frame for the coaching job to be vacated tomorrow by Alex Codling: “We’re really pleased with this. When the deciison comes over whether you want to keep a player for me it’s a question of whether I’d like to play against him — and in Laurence’s case I’m glad he’s on our side!"

Titans play London Scottish in the final Championship game tomorrow (3pm).
