Pearce blow for Titans

TITANS have suffered the blow of losing powerhouse forward Laurence Pearce for up to three months.

Pearce, who has been a matchwinner this season with his thundering back-row form, damaged knee ligaments in Saturday's British and Irish Cup win at Bedford.

Said coach Lee Blackett: "He's likely to be out for a minumum of six weeks, although it could be for up to three months.

"He just landed awkwardly. It's one of those things that happen and, in the normal calendar season, he might not be back. If he does, it will be for the final couple of games.

"It's disappointing because Laurence has been a great threat, especially off the bench, and impact-wise now someone else is going to have to do that job.

"But the thing is that everyone who has come into the team has made a difference this year. Our strength in depth is strong and it's going to have to stay that way."

Titans head to Jersey tomorrow for a prickly Championship test.
