ROTHERHAM United Women are back on the cup trail this weekend, with manager Rob Hilton welcoming the team’s increased fire power.

​Sunday’s trip to Dronfield Town in the League Cup follows a convincing 5-0 victory over Chesterfield FC Women in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup last time out. That win secured them a spot in the third qualifying round and a home draw against Thornaby on Sunday, October 13.

Manager Rob Hilton was heartened by the improvement in finishing seen against Chesterfield.

Winger Alesha Gale thumped home after just 30 seconds and added a second before the break.

Sophie Gordon scored in each half and sub Amanda Millar opened her Millers’ account in the closing stages.

It means the Millers, who won two trophies last season, have now racked up nine goals in the last three games.

Hilton said: “I’m encouraged that we are finding the net regularly and things are beginning to click up front.

“We have plenty of attacking options and will always give our opponents a lot to think about.

“Everyone is in football to win matches and win trophies so we’re excited to get stuck into these cup games.”

Kick-off for both is at 2pm.

Admission to Roundwood for the Thornaby game is £3 for adults and free for children.
