The striker equalised five minutes after half time when turning his marker 40 yards out and powering clear to finish clinically past Tommy Lee in the home goal.

Played out in monsoon conditions, the rest of the first half was dominated by Rotherham, who forced nine corners but without being able to force a breakthrough. The nearest they came before the interval was an injury-time effort from Ben Pringle which was turned over by Lee.
In the second half Neal Trotman made a goal-saving block from Pringle and Lee went full stretch to deny Lionel Ainswort but the closing stages were more even and Sam Togwell went close from 20 yards and Ian Sharps had to block from Chesterfield substitute Jack Lester in injury time.
