O'Connor at the double for Millers

ROTHERHAM United came from behind to beat Oxford United 3-1 at the New York Stadium this afternoon, with Michael O’Connor scoring twice.

Seag Rigg caught the home defence napping from a corner to drill the visitors into an early lead but the Millers gradually wrestled back control and were good value for the three points.

Ben Pringle and Lionel Ainsworth both clattered the woodwork before O’Connor equalised on 30 minutes from a penalty awarded for a foul on Kayode Odejayi.

The visitors, who came into the game on the back of five straight league defeats, were pinned back after the interval and survived several scares before O’Connor steered in from 18 yards to make it 2-1 on 74 minutes.

Scott Shearer pulled off a terrific double save to preserve the lead and Rotherham broke for Jason Taylor to side-foot in to put the issue beyond doubt two minutes from time.
