Netball club seeks players

A NETBALL club is inviting adults to get back into the sport.

The DVC club, based at DVC Sports on the campus of Dearne Valley College (DVC), is offering an eight-week taster course.

Open to all abilities, it is ideal for those wanting to re-capture the game or learn afresh with others aiming to do the same.

Training will be delivered by an experienced and qualified netball coach who will help refresh participants' knowledge and encourage their ability to play again whether just for fun, fitness or even to join a local team by the end of the course.

Starting on Wednesday, May 4 (7pm-8pm) for eight weeks, the course will allow participants to learn skills and tactics from footwork, throwing/catching, defending/attacking, shooting, dodging, new rules/positions, centre passes, teamwork and match play etiquette. Participants will also be brought up-to-date with the rules of the game whilst increasing fitness levels.

Diane Lewis, DVC Netball Club coach, said: "Netball is fast and enjoyable and caters for all ages and fitness levels.

"The short taster course is an opportunity for those to gain a sound foundation of the game basics, which will then allow participants to attend the regular training sessions with the DVC Netball Club teams."
