Neil will lift us, says chairman

TONY Stewart says the arrival of Neil Warnock will add fresh impetus to the Millers just when they need it.

Speaking to the Advertiser today, the chairman said it had been a “whirlwind week” since Neil Redfearn’s dismissal on Monday.

The board hadn’t just identified the ideal successor, but had been able to bring him in quickly and with another experienced operator in Kevin Blackwell installed as Warnock’s assistant, Mr Stewart believes the Millers are in good hands with 16 matches to go.

“It was a unanimous decision, the board wanted Neil above certain other applicants,” he said.

“It’s been a whirlwind week from Monday with the manager leaving and then here we are on the Friday welcoming a manager we think can get behind the team.

“We saw against Brighton and Hull what we are capable of and I just think with the talent these two experienced managers have got, it will invigorate the players.

“In a short time we wanted a manager and in a short time we’ve got the guy we wanted.

“His enthusiasm, drive and experience are a good cocktail.”
