Nardiello is Millers' hero

DANIEL Nardiello’s late goal saw off ten-man Oldham Athletic and maintained Rotherham United’s unbeaten start in League One.

A lively tussle at the New York Stadium was decided a minute from normal time when the striker, making his first start of the season, swooped from close range to make it 3-2 and secure a third straight win.

Nardiello opened the scoring after 21 minutes from a penalty awarded for handball and rolled a super chance wide before David Mellor was dismissed in the 40th minute for kicking out at Lee Frecklington.

But after Mark Oxley kept the Latics in the game with a good stop from Freckington, Oldham broke to equalise through Cristian Montano right on half time.

Seven minutes after the break, Matteo Lanzoni pounced from close range to hand them a shock lead but  Frecklington’s glancing header had Rotherham level ten minutes later.

Cristian Montano and Alex Revell were both denied by good goalkeeping in an exciting finish before Nardiello settled it.
