Moore maintains player search

MANAGER Ronnie Moore is tracking several potential targets as he looks to boost Rotherham United's promotion push.

Seeking defensive cover and reinforcements in more forward areas, Moore is spreading the net to try and get new blood in before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

He's been interested in a trio of defenders including Julian Bennett at Nottingham Forest, Tom Kennedy at Leicester City and Callum Kennedy from Swindon Town.

Another Leicester player, former Lincoln City forward Dany N'Guessan, has also been on the radar while Moore has been contacted by the agent of Abdulai Bell-Baggie, the tricky winger who had a successful loan spell at Don Valley Stadium last season.

While impressed with Bell-Baggie as an impact player, Moore says he would prefer someone with more experience.

The Millers chief also confirmed that he had made another approach for his son, Tranmere Rovers striker Ian Thomas-Moore.

Rotherham were after the 34-year-old earlier in the season but pulled out after they asked £50,000 for him.

With his contract at Prenton Park up in the summer and having turned down a new deal, Moore wants to take him on loan until the end of the season but has been rebuffed by Rovers so far.

United, who sit third in League Two, surrendered their eight-game unbeaten league record when they lost to Southend last Saturday but have hit the half-way point of the season with a healthy 41 points.

Two prickly away tests at second-placed Wycombe Wanderers tomorrow and Stevenage on Tuesday will test the team's resolve but Moore is expecting a positive response.
