Moore hails away triumph

MANAGER Ronnie Moore hailed "three great points" after Rotherham United won at Macclesfield Town yesterday to continue their push at the top of League Two.

A goal in each half from Jason Taylor and skipper Nick Fenton—his first for two years— sealed a 2-0 win and extended the team's unbeaten league run to seven games.

The Millers had to withstand prolonged second-half pressure to secure the points but had the superior cutting edge in front of goal, raising their tally to seven goals in two games after Saturday's 5-0 destruction of Port Vale.

Moore said: "It was tough old game and the back four were superb.

"We didn't keep the ball as well as we did on Saturday but there was loads of commitment and effort and it's three great points for us because Macclesfield is a difficult place to go."

The win was soured when striker Ryan Taylor limped off in the second half and the Millers are waiting to see whether it is a reoccurrence of the metatarsal injury he suffered before the start of the season.

The striker will have an x-ray today.

Moore will also try to extend the loan period of midfielder Will Atkinson from Hull City.

The Millers, who now sit just two points behind leaders Chesterfield, are next in action away to Stockport County next Tuesday (7.45pm).
