Moore delight as Arsenal ace signs in

ROTHERHAM United chief Ronnie Moore says the signing of Arsenal midfielder Mark Randall is "fantastic" for the club.

The 21-year-old is joining the Millers on loan until January having been tracked by Moore for several weeks.

Randall has played more than a dozen games for the Gunners and is seen as one who will bring some much-needed creativity to the Rotherham midfield.

He will train with the Millers today and go straight into the starting line-up for Saturday's match at Southend United.

Moore said: "It's fantastic for the club that Arsenal have allowed a player who has played 13 times for them to come here. It's a great thing for the lad too because he wants to come—he fancies it.

"He will be in today and be ready to train with us ready for the Southend game.

"We knocked on certain doors and got good feedback from the manager (Arsene Wenger), who was willing to help us out with it.

"He's a big earner and the chairman has backed us and allowed us to do it.

"It's nice we have got someone of that calibre. He will give us the Arsenal type of player. The only problem I have now is, who plays with him."

Moore saw his side beaten 4-3 by Wycombe Wanderers at Don Valley Stadium on Saturday.

The defeat was the Millers' first in nine games and nudged them out of the automatic promotion frame.

It left a sour taste because Rotherham were furious about Wanderers' match-winning penalty six minutes from time when Johnny Mullins was adjudged to have brought down Kevin Betsy, despite it looking like a fair challenge.

Wanderers substitute Scott Rendell rolled in the spot kick.

Moore said: "It was never a penalty but you can't defend the way we did in the first half. That's when the game got away from us."

Wycombe had gone 2-0 up inside the first 20 minutes through Betsy and Matt Bloomfield before Rotherham surged back to level with two sweet strikes from Adam Le Fondre and Jason Taylor, his first of the season.

Ben Strevens' curler put the visitors back in front in first-half injury time only for Le Fondre to make it 3-3 from the penalty spot on 69 minutes after Exodus Geohoghon was impeded.

Then came the controversial game turning moment.
