Moore bids to revitalise faltering Millers

MANAGER Ronnie Moore is to step up his search for new blood having seen Rotherham United labour to a dull draw against Macclesfield Town last night.

An 85th minute equaliser from Adam Le Fondre—his 14th goal of the season—rescued a point for the Millers just moments after the defence-minded visitors had taken a shock lead through Tyrone Barnett.

The draw meant Rotherham have taken only one point from the last nine on offer and have slipped to sixth in League Two.

Moore is anxious to halt the slide and having lost Arsenal loanee and play-maker Mark Randall to injury and seen his wingers Kevin Ellison and Nicky Law struggle once more, he knows which areas of the team he needs to improve—with chairman Tony Stewart's permission.

He said: "We need a ball-playing midfield player and we need someone with pace and directness who is going to take people on and get crosses in. Maybe we need to bring a couple of players in so we'll have a little word with the chairman and see what can be done. It might be that we have to get one or two out.

"We know what's wrong and we need to put it right sharpish. We have a list of players but it's getting them out of the clubs and getting a good deal for our club while doing it."

Looking at last night's display, Moore thought the Millers improved on Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Southend, but only marginally.

He said: "We were a bit better than Saturday but it wasn't a good performance.

"We kept the ball well enough but our tempo wasn't quick enough or sharp enough to hurt them and the only time it changed is when we went a goal down."

The Millers now have a break from league action with York City visiting Don Valley in the first round of the FA Cup on Saturday and Huddersfield Town to follow in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy next Tuesday.
