Millers wait to confirm Stubbs

ROTHERHAM United are still working towards a deal to bring Alan Stubbs to the New York Stadium - even though an official announcement has yet to be made.

It was expected that the Millers would this afternoon unveil Stubbs as their fourth managerial appointment inside a year.

But even though chairman Tony Stewart last night said there were only formalities to be concluded, it seems that the deal is taking longer than expected.

Mr Stewart exclusively told the Advertiser yesterday that Stubbs had agreed a three-year deal but the delay is understood to be down to agreeing a compensation package with the Scottish Championship club.

Stubbs guided Hibs to the Scottish Cup less than a fortnight ago and is understood to have agreed to join the Millers despite the Easter Road club wanting to hang on to him.
