Millers to take time finding new man

ROTHERHAM United will not rush into filling their managerial hot seat, with a new appointment expected in weeks rather than days.

Kenny Jackett's departure after just 39 days in charge has left the club looking for its fifth manager this calendar year.

The difference this time is that there is no outstanding candidate, presenting a trickier choice.

“With Kenny Jackett it was more or less a head hunt, a marksman's approach,” explained chairman Tony Stewart.

“But after what we have gone through, there is not going to be a knee-jerk response.

“We don't want people who are on a merry-go-round, they come up every time. We're still looking for the long fix and we want to make sure we have a person who is dedicated and can take us forward.

“We will probably sit down on Monday and take stock and it could take two or three weeks for the next manager to be appointed.”
