Millers to face Preston

ROTHERHAM United signed off the regular season with a 2-1 victory at Swindon Town – and set up a meeting with Preston in the League One play-off semi-finals.

The Millers finish fourth, meaning they will go to Deepdale for the first leg next Saturday, with the second leg to follow at the New York Stadium on Thursday, May 15.

Wes Thomas opened the scoring inside the first 60 seconds at the County Ground, latching onto James Tavernier’s through ball and shooting inside the far post.

The recalled striker then got on the end of a cross from Ben Pringle to head in the second goal after 23 minutes.

The home side improved in the second half and pulled one back on the hour when Michael Smith scored from the penalty spot after Kari Arnason brought down Massimo Luongo.
