Millers suffer cup KO

ROTHERHAM United’s unbeaten run came to an end as they tumbled out of the FA Cup to League Two Rochdale at the New York Stadium.

The fired-up visitors took advantage of a below-par showing from Steve Evans’ side to win 2-1, aided by the dismissal of the Michael Tidser 17 minutes from time.

The afternoon looked like going to plan when Lee Frecklington opened the scoring inside the first five minutes. But after Kieran Agard twice went close to increasing the lead, Rochdale got a foothold and struck twice in the second half to book their place in the third round.

Matthew Lund turned in Matthew Rose’s cross to equalise ten minutes after the restart and with Tidser off the field for two bookable offences, the depleted Millers buckled eight minutes from the end when substitute Peter Vincenti struck from close range.

It was their first defeat in eight games.
