Millers see off Rovers

ROTHERHAM United struck twice in the first half to score their first Championship win in six games at the expense of Blackburn Rovers.

Goals from Kari Arnason and Luciano Becchio paved the way for a 2-0 victory, the reward for a tireless display.

Arnason seized on a loose ball to find the bottom corner of the net after only five minutes and the Millers, making most of the play in the first half, were then gifted a second goal just past the half hour.

Ryan Tunnicliffe, harried by Ben Pringle, placed an awkward back pass to goalkeeper Jason Steele and his clearance cannoned in off Becchio (pictured).

Rotherham had to work hard to protect the lead in the second half as the visitors pushed forward. The prolific Jordan Rhodes was largely kept at bay and the closest Rovers came to a reply was when Shane Duffy’s header was cleared off the line by Ben Pringle.

The final whistle was greeted by a standing ovation from an appreciative crowd at the New York Stadium.
