Millers keep sights high

ROTHERHAM United prepare to step onto another big Championship stage this weekend with manager Steve Evans insisting: “We're looking up rather than down.”

The Millers travel down to Brighton and Hove Albion's plush Amex Stadium on the back of an unbeaten four-match run.

They've taken the scalps of Blackburn and Leeds and were within minutes of beating Fulham on Tuesday night until a late equaliser stopped them just short of a third straight home win.

Up to 14th in the table, the team is moving in the right direction and with Evans looking to bring in reinforcements before the next international break in November, he's wanting to make Rotherham an even stronger force in the second tier.

They'll run out at the Amex Stadium four points better off than their hosts. Albion have had a surprisingly slow start under new manager Sami Hyypia and are without a win in nine.

But like last Friday's televised Leeds game, Evans wants his players to grasp the chance to show another big audience the strides they're making and knows what they'll face, having watch Brighton's home match against Middlesbrough last weekend.

He told the Advertiser: “Most of our supporters will have not been to the Amex and will be gobsmacked. It's a spaceship, a terrific arena, and another reason why we’ve worked so hard to get here.

“From playing in front of 5,000 a year ago to the weekend at Leyton Orient, we will be running out in front of something like 27,000 and it's another great opportunity for us to show what we are about."

The squad is at virtually full strength. Midfielder Anthony Wordsworth has picked up a dead leg and is expected to be fit to travel while Richard Wood and Conor Newton are back in training.
