Millers hit back to beat Leeds

ROTHERHAM United came from behind to stun Yorkshire rivals Leeds United on a memorable night at the New York Stadium.

Two goals in seven minutes in the second half from Alex Revell and substitute Jonson Clarke-Harris clinched a 2-1 win, the Millers’ second victory in three Championship matches.

Leeds were unable to capitalise after Mirko Antenucci put them ahead on the half-hour, seizing upon a subtle pass from Souleymane Doukara to guide the ball inside the far post.

Revell had Rotherham’s best chance of the half, meeting Ben Pringle’s first-time centre with a header that forced a full-length save from Marco Silvestri.

However the big man, a real handful all night, was on hand to equalise 12 minutes into the second period when he converted a rebound after Silvestri clawed away a shot from Lee Frecklington.

Clarke-Harris, the club record signing from Oldham, had been on the field only moments when he stole the show with his first goal for the club, striding forward and striking a thunderbolt from all over 25 yards that gave the keeper no chance.

Substitute Adryan and Antenucci both shaved the post in the closing stages but Revell twice went close to putting extra gloss on the scoreline before the home supporters in a sell-out crowd acclaimed a fantastic win.
