Millers contemplate January moves

ROTHERHAM United are intent on making the most of the January transfer window to rescue their season, with the issue already a talking point at the top level.

The need for new blood to give the Millers a fighting chance of staying in the Championship is high on the agenda in the regular conversations between manager Kenny Jackett and chairman Tony Stewart.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's live TV clash against Leeds United, Jackett told the Advertiser: “I have conversations with the chairman all of the time about plans, not just about January but about how to improve the club and what we are doing going forward to make it better because we do need to make it better.

“January depends very much on who is available and what we want, it's quite fluid that way, but obviously the window is an opportunity to improve and if we have to cut deep then we have to.

“We haven't mentioned specific numbers but targeting players and seeing what they would cost us and what would be deemed necessary to bring them to the club is obviously a priority because we need to know that before we move.”

Skipper Lee Frecklington and defender Kelvin Wilson both miss out again through injury along with striker Dexter Blackstock.

Kick-off at the NYS tomorrow is 5.30pm.
