Millers confident of beating freeze

ROTHERHAM United are confident of getting tomorrow's match on against Aldershot Town.

Around 40 volunteers answered a call to clear Don Valley Stadium of snow yesterday morning and more arrived throughout the day.

Chief operating officer Paul Douglas said: "Just over a third of it had been shifted by lunchtime and the pitch underneath was soft, as we thought.

"There's still a question mark about the stadium itself and some of the surrounding streets but Sheffield City Council are going to do their level best to get the streets sorted and Don Valley's own people will work to get the stadium fit for purpose.

"We are very confident we can get the match on."

If play is possible, Millers chief Ronnie Moore will welcome back fit-again skipper Ryan Cresswell and goalkeeper Andy Warrington, both of whom have missed the last three games.

Cresswell has recovered from a back injury while Warrington returns after the birth of his baby.

Moore could also hand a start to midfielder Will Atkinson, in on loan from Hull City.

Rotherham trained indoors this week at Sheffield Wednesday's facility at Middlewood.

Meanwhile, Rotherham Borough Council's local pitches are in doubt for the weekend.

Teams with bookings will be contacted if play is possible.
