Metro face derby crunch

ROTHERHAM Metro face a key weekend in their bid to remain in water polo’s top flight.

Having dropped into the bottom three in the revamped British League’s second phase, Metro missed out on the Super Fives title shootout and instead had to play in the eight-team Championship One, with the top three going back into the top section next year.

In their opening weekend, Rotherham had a win over Sutton and Cheam but were beaten by Welsh Wanderers, leaving them third from the bottom going into the second round at Crystal Palace this weekend

And it will be a vital derby match on Sunday that will go a long way towards deciding their fortunes when they play rivals Sheffield. Tomorrow’s game sees Metro face without-a-win Polytechnic.
