MALTBY Main are into the semi-finals of the Sheffield Senior Sunday Cup for the second successive year after a dramatic penalty shoot-out win — much to the delight of manager Andy Dawson.

They beat higher-league Stocksbridge Park Steels 6-5 on pens last night after their tie at Muglet Lane had finished 1-1.

Aaron Sennett-Neilson's curling free-kick had Maltby ahead as the early as the 13th minute only for Charlie Oglesby's 60th minute header to level matters.

Main were ahead in the shoot-out 6-5 when Dylan Parkin saved Steels' seventh spot-kick to put his team through.

Andy said: "The free-kick was fantastic — 30 yards, top corner — and Aaron is capable of it anyway, he has done that a couple of times this season.

"In the second half we knew Stocksbridge were going to come at us and they scored a good goal.

"It was end to end up until the penalties and I have got to say that apart from the one penalty that was missed, all ours were outstanding.

"Stocksbridge had been on a good run and they're a league above but we didn't look out of place. We matched them, we did well and we were organised.

"It was just a great performance from us."

Maltby reached the semi-finals last year where they beat Parkgate to reach their first Senior Cup final since 1978, eventually losing to Worksop Town.

The Northern Counties East League side must now wait for the other three quarter-finals to play out.

They are Emley v Hemsworth MW (Jan 24), Nostell MW v Wombwell Town (Jan 31) and Sheffield FC v Penistone Church (Feb 2).

Main are back in league action on Saturday at home to Thackley (1.30pm).
